Child mental health support – Wales
Child mental health support – Wales
Place2Be has offered mental health support for children and young people in Wales since 2009 and currently reaches over 4,345 pupils and their families across twelve schools in South Wales.
We take a whole school approach to supporting children’s mental health. We offer a menu of different services to meet schools’ needs, including universal and targeted support for children and families. In addition, we offer expert training, support and resources for teachers and school staff.

Our work in Wales
We provide our partner schools with a mental health professional who is integral to the school team. They work closely with pupils, families and staff to improve emotional wellbeing and provide mental health support for the whole school. Support they provide can include:
- Place2Talk - a universal drop-in service for students
- Place2Think - consultation for teachers and school staff
- whole-class sessions and assemblies with wellbeing themes
- targeted individual counselling and therapeutic group work
- support for parents and carers
- consultations – on emotional wellbeing and behaviour, tailored to each school.
