What happened at this year's Carol Concert?

Hosted by award-winning musician, educator, author, broadcaster and Place2Be Ambassador YolanDa Brown, the festive evening took place at Holy Trinity Church in Sloane Square, London.

The guests entered the church to the sound of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, led by the church choir and accompanied by the wonderful students from Goldfinch Primary School choir.

The Goldfinch Primary School choir then went on to perform beautifully for us and received the loudest applause of the night.

After that they were joined by award winning mezzo-soprano and Place2Be Champion Laura Wright for a breath-taking performance together.

Lang Lang International Music Foundation Ambassador Zara Antonia then took to the piano to perform to our audience.

Other highlights included Laura Wright’s ethereal performances, along with Yolanda Brown’s incredible saxophone rendition of a festive favourite.

Throughout the night, attendees were also treated to captivating Christmas readings from:

  • Simon Callow, actor and co-director
  • Victoria Smurfit, actress, presenter and writer
  • Skye McAlpine, cookery writer
  • Nigel Lindsay, actor.

Attendees heard from Goldfinch Primary School Head Teacher Emilie Haston about the positive impact of Place2Be’s in-school mental health support on children and young people. Goldfinch Primary School has been a Place2Be partner school since 2006.
